Hi.
I have a USB powered which is disabling data on certain USB data cables that i recently got , some cheap ones from local store. As soon as i unplug the power cord of the HUB and replug the USB to my PC data is now available. For the record, monitor, laptop and USB power bus, are not connected to earth and they are plugged in the same strip adapter. If i plugged old / good data cables it is fine. are there any shorts on these cables ? I can return one of them at least if thats the case.

I think i've trace a clue to this problem and it lies on the lack of shielding on those two cables that disables data on the USB powered hub, at least one of them it has the splitted wires, the LED channel in middle but no shielding so i'm assuming that the other cable has the same thing.
I'll check if GND is connected to shield when i get one usb female THT.

Well should said what Hub model was in first place.... is this. The original power cord long gone... I'm using a nimo 5V 2A power cord, but using another the result is the same.

And yes the cables that blocks data pins are not shielded :S

Looks like got another USB to micro cable that has the same problem as the previous which disables the data pins and gives cable error. Well looks like the USB hub has two pairs of USB and if i plug a USB mass storage + the dubious cables the HUB works fine, because it raises the USB power from 5.01V to 5.11V and compensates the resistance of this particular cables.
So it solved.
[Edit...]
One good thing about this USB HUB it doesn't backfeed when powered externaly :)
