Electronics Technician or ET

Just make certain he doesn't want to phone home all the time, you'll get no work done.

Electronics Technician - repairs items

Electronics Engineer - sits in a office dreaming up ways to make the technicians job harder

Electronics Design Engineer - sits in his own office looking smug, Barking orders

After spending thousands on a prototype that doesn't work, blames the Electronics Engineer who gets to plod through mountains of paperwork, The Electronics Technician figures out the issue in a few hours it just needs a bodge cap and wire

The Electronics Engineer tries to take the credit but fails, The Electronics Design Engineer gets a pat on the back from the CEO and a nice 10k bonus at the end of the year

My Swiss parent company always described me, in English,  as an 'Electronician', and my mech colleague as a 'Mechanician (I have heard 'mechanician used in the USA.)

The problem is, at least in Canada, there are many different skill and intelligence levels within the definition "electrician". Some design and implement controls and automation, Some plan and build power distribution projects, some are troubleshooting wizards, others hook up wires where they are told and bend pipe. That's the issue with titles and trying to define your scope of practice with a generic title.  Just my 2ยข
