JST-XH: intelligent way to remove connected cables
(1/1)
Moriambar:
Hi.
Recently I printed a board and attached some JST-XH connector (to connect leds and stuff to the board). The problem is that, testing the boards, I have to connect-disconnect the cables many times and, unfortunately, the connection is so strong that it's very difficult to remove the cables and doing it many times puts a lot of strain both on the soldered connector and the cables attached to it.

So, is there any intelligent way to do this in order not to have such problems? Since the soldered connectors come from amazon, while the cable connector comes from digikey, could it be a problem of this mismatch?

Please if you have any suggestions tell me. Also if your suggestion is to change the connector types!

Cheers

I deal with tight connectors including flexiprint  by oiling them.
I use PAO compressor oil.
I was going to suggest a Super Lube product but they are now dumbing down their data sheets by omitting chemical descriptions for their products.

They make grabs/handles/cases that go onto the connector to make it easier to remove. I've noticed some of my nicer lipo batteries come with these already attached.
