I would very much like it though, to have the simplest setup that I can get away with, because I am traveling a lot with the scope. If IV gave me something that Trigger/V or V/V, I'd still consider doing it, but if I do, I want to know why I'd need it.
Now the way I understand it, is that the use of the external trigger of the signal generator (trigger is built in) makes it possible to observe phase differences. When component testing with an IV Curve, it seems that the predominant factor to determine for example the health of a capacitor would be to look at phase. For that, measuring the I, doesn't seem entirely necessary.
