Korad KA3005P
« on: September 08, 2020, 01:01:30 am »
Just posting this here in case any new enthusiasts are looking for a recommendation on a power supply.

Below are a couple photos, one showing a Korad KA3005P set for 1.02 volts and 11 milliamps connected to a DC load drawing 10 milliamps.  It's not much of a load but fwiw the voltage is pretty accurate (see Fluke 179) and reasonably stable (see Keysight 34465A 10 minute trend chart, presumably accurate to 3 digits beyond 1.02V).  The Korad was one of the first pieces of test equipment I purchased about 7 years go and it continues to be one of my favorites, and it pretty much has to be the #1 value leader on my bench in terms of performance/price.

Edit:  added third photo with 2 changes:  1) trend chart now up to 38 minutes, slightly rescaled, and 2) I adjusted the electro-mechanical flip card time clock which I noticed in the first photo had drifted off time when compared to the Radio Shack LCD clock; once you get TEA syndrome it can lead to volt nuts, time nuts and more, and it can become hard to shake it.

I have 2 x KA6005P.
Love them, very accurate .
An absolute bargain.
Why would you need anything else?
Why would you pay more?

I think 404 was published in December 2012.  The product had some hiccups in the early days (maybe into 2013 or so). but it has gone through some revisions since then.  Mine is going on 7 years, knock on wood. :)
