Title: Lathe electronic leadscrew
Post by: Dell on May 03, 2023, 08:52:08 pm
Hi all I am hoping to search the collective brains on here, I am a bit confused regarding some wiring on the ELS I am installing to my lathe , the stepper driver to ELS control has a red wire piggybacked from pul+, dir +, and ena + but it also said that alternative connections can be made using Rj45 adapter I have adapter with six pins on but it doesn’t explain what way round to fit , so I am going to wire direct do I have to add the red piggyback?.
Thanks Dell

the -/+ are the cathodes anodes of optocouplers so, yes you need to wire it as shown if you don't use the RJ45

Thanks for replying according to Rocketronics the benefit with Rj45 is shielded cable and as I am using shielded cables anyway I can’t see the point.
