Title: LDO with two output pins - do I have to use both?
Post by: zapta on August 13, 2016, 01:19:29 am
This SOT-223 LDO has two output pins

Is it OK to use only one of them (e.g. that large tab)?

(motivation: tight PCB)

Hi,
It is o.k. to use one of them. The datasheet shows some parts with the extra pin cropped short.

not just ok, its common. you can even crop either the sot-223 middle pin or the large tab or solder them vertical.

Thanks, this will save me two big and ugly vias.
