Transformer replacement wiring question
« on: April 17, 2022, 11:52:32 am »
Hello all, I’m installing a new transformer and when looking at the Hammond Data sheet compared to the original schematic how would I cross reference the wiring color from old to new? They show a black dot on the original transformer schematic on the center tap but on he Hammond data sheet the black dots aren’t on the center tap?

Just overlay the Hammond unit on the original.  The connections are shown in the correct positions.

Thanks Bob that’s what I assumed as a center tap is a center tap per the drawings.

I agree with Bob.

Err. *NO* its not a center tap on either the original or replacement diagram, because it isn't at the center of the winding with equal turns count either side of it.   Its a 'boost' tap that increases the secondary voltage when the switch is in SSB mode by removing a small part of each primary winding from the circuit, increasing the turns ratio.
