Laptop LCD Display dimming
« on: April 24, 2022, 04:00:38 pm »
Hi,
I want to upgrade my current laptop display which is a PANDA LM156LFCL07 which uses PWM with a better one (an Innolux N156HCG-EN1) . The specs sheet says both "LED DC Dimming" and "PWM frequency (190-2K)Hz", so I'm confused.
Here is the link to the comparison with my display: https://www.panelook.com/modelcompare.php?ids=46058,45792

So I'm wondering if Innolux is saying that the screen uses both DC dimming AND PWM or if the control is entirely determined  by the laptop's motherboard. So, if it's controlled by the motherboard, I think installing a display that supports DC dimming will not mean that it will actually work with DC dimming, if the motherboard doesn't want it to.

What do you think? Who controls PWM?

Thank you in advance
Michele
