Pairs of anodes and cathodes on one LED?

Hey all, just curious why there would be redundant connections on one LED, as seen here:
https://cdn.samsung.com/led/file/resource/2018/09/P_0.5W_Super_Red_SPMSR1346EA0_Rev.00.pdf
I thought maybe it was for ease of placing LED's in series, but with the same connections on the same side, that can't be it. Is it just for redundancy in case a solder joint breaks? Am I missing it completely? I do understand why there would be multiple connections on a multi-color LED, but this is just one color. Thanks!

I would assume that it is for mechanical stability. This specific package is also used for multi colored LEDs, where more pins are needed.

It also serves to remove more heat from the device.

Thanks everyone. Would I just split the trace from the resistor to both anodes then?

Just place a Poly region
But a split track will also do just fine for a 500mW LED.
