lm358 rail current
(1/1)
LaserTazerPhaser:
According to lm358 datasheet supply current is 5mA for DC and 50mA bipolar rails.
For a DC output of 4mA will the lm358 draw an additional 4mA of input current at the rails raising it to 9mA?
Its unlikely for an 28mA output the rails will remain at the stated 5mA constant rather rail current will surpass the output current but Im not sure about how the lm358 draws current at its rails.
magic:
Supply current of LM358 is rated less than 1mA typically, 2mA max.
This is idle state consumption. Any output current of course needs to be added to it, it doesn't just come from nowhere.
Well, actually, the first 50µA of sinking current is for free due to the way it's output stage works. But that's not very much of current.
