How to wire up a composite camera?
« on: November 09, 2013, 05:09:16 pm »
Hello everyone, I took apart one of those "spy car" things with a camera and grabbed the camera module out of it, it has ground, positive and a yellow lead which I can only think is the video signal. I don't know what voltage it runs at, I'll assume 5v, but I am wondering how to connect it to a TV to test it out. I'm guessing I need to make the connector with the yellow wire and ground but I don't know if the inside pole or the shield of the connector should be ground, perhaps someone has a wiring diagram?

5V for the power isn't a bad assumption, but it's hard to be sure without knowing more about the specific camera. Basically what you want to do is this:

Get a male Phono/RCA connector

Connect the "pin" of the connector to the yellow wire
Connect the shield/ring of the connector to the black wire and to the ground of your power supply
Connect the red wire to the V+ of your power supply
