Complete data sheet for APA106 diodes
« on: June 22, 2021, 06:02:39 pm »
I’m trying to use an APA106 RGB diode and I’m having some issues. Does anyone know where to find a complete data sheet that specifies IO voltage levels? The data sheets I’ve found only specifies the timings for high and low bits.

It shows a Vdd of 5V on the datasheet. Vdd tells you its cmos. So about 1/3 and 2/3 vdd are most likely where your logic thresholds lie. I'd assume that that the LED Vdd and your system need to be about the same else you need a level shifter. [They eat 60mA each (R+G+B all on). 1mA all off. Allegedly] Check your rails aren't sagging or boucning during logic tranistions. Look at you local decoupling scheme. You probably need 100n right at the LED leads.

What datasheet did you find? In the one I found at Adafruit I can’t see anything about CMOS…

I’ve managed to drive one using Vdd at 5V and 3v3 on DIO but I’m guessing that is borderline… No caps on the bread board yet.
