so, as you can see by the pictures, i chowdered this thing but good while trying to solder a wire to the ground pin. now i have looked up the pinout and i have tried to solder to the ground plane in hopes of resurrecting this poor thing to no avail. is there anywhere else i could attempt feeding power through? I would rather use this thing then having it hit a landfill.

You could try the golden pads the metal frame is connected to. Since they are connected to traces there is probably a solerable jumper somewhere for shorting them to GND.
Maybe R8 or R9 or J5.
