Title: Looking for Solar panel / electrical transmission engineers!
Post by: nipplecripple on March 11, 2014, 01:22:57 pm
Hi everyone

So I'm doing a college assignment that asks: 'How a practical application of electrical technology could be improved by making effective use of available technologies'

I have been going over some ideas of applying solar panels to transmission pylons.

One of the points in the assignment is for evaluation by a third party/engineer in those industries.

Can anyone point me toward someone/company or someone on the forum who is involved with pylons/solar panels?

Many thanks in advance!

I'm involved with the power generation/transmission industry (at a lower level than an engineer however),  and can think of a few issues with the concept that would need to be considered.

That said however, you might find a R&D department at a local utility that you can inquire with. Failing finding something more local, you can always inquire with my local utility ( http://hydro.mb.ca/corporate/research_and_development.shtml?WT.mc_id=2126 (http://hydro.mb.ca/corporate/research_and_development.shtml?WT.mc_id=2126) ). Worst they can say is "sorry, can't help you".
