| Looking for the right size capacitors |

I've recently been looking at repairing a game boy where I've found a few of the electrolytic caps that have bulged. They haven't leaked yet, which is nice. The thing is I can't find the same size capacitors. Here's the list (w=width=diameter, h=height=length): Cpu: 100u 10V x2 w6.5mm h5mm 10u 16V x2 w4mm h7mm 1u 50V x2 Power: 33u 25V x1 w6.5mm h5mm 100u 10V x1 w6.5mm h5mm 22u 10V x1 w4mm h5mm Audio: 100u 6.3V x2 w4mm h6mm Lcd: 100u 10V x2 w6.5mm h6.5mm 10u 25V x1 w4mm h6.5mm 1u 10V x5 w3mm h5mm I've measured the body of the caps with calipers. I've opened 3 of my game boys and 2 of them are Panasonic brands and the 3rd one is Sanyo, yet I can't find the right one on digikey nor in the sub miniature elcos category on reichelt. All I've found so far are 5x7mm (WxL). Does anyone know where I could find these ? |

What's the lead pitch? How about using smaller diameter capacitors and bending the leads? How much clear space is available above the PCB? Could slightly taller capacitors be fitted? The voltage rating isn't important, as long as it's equal or higher, than what it replaces. |

The lead pitch is 0.5mm. The 100u caps have to be straight, but it looks like I have enough space for a taller one like the 5x7mm I found. I would prefer to have original looking caps though, but if I can't find them then I'll have to get those ones. |

Function first. If you get an electrical match and the parts can be mounted securely that should be you concern. I would also pay attention to any special requirements like low ESR. The inside of a box is not for show. --- Quote from: pyroesp on September 05, 2018, 01:48:57 pm ---The lead pitch is 0.5mm. Any reason a ready-made capacitor-kit for the DMG Gameboy won't work? https://console5.com/store/game-boy-dmg-01-cap-kit.html It's easier and cheaper than sourcing the individual caps yourself. |
