Looks like a ceramic cap but
Wallace Gasiewicz:
Looks like a typical ceramic cap.
Sez: 102 SUM (these are the only markings, nice and clear)
But goes down from 1nF to .5 nF with a little hot air.
And goes down a little if I touch it with warm fingers, Then recovers slowly
What is it??
Kim Christensen:
Doesn't surprise me. Y5V capacitors could almost double as temperature sensors.

Might be fun to make a thermometer that uses one as the sensor. Seems like something Heathkit would have done back in the day. They used diodes as sensors in some of their weather stations.
Wallace Gasiewicz:
Thanks for the replies, Looks like it is a 5YV
Not a SMD, just a ceramic looking cap with two substantial leads.
Yea I guess someone could consider using it as a temp sensor.
Thanks again
