Good Starting Variable Power Supply
« on: November 23, 2023, 06:44:01 pm »
I am sorry if this has been answered before I tried looking through the beginner post, but came up empty-handed.  What would be a reliable Cheaper Option for supplies between 30-60V and 5/10A Switching Power supply.. I had an older one made from straight chineseium but it did its job valiantly..that is until it was stolen.  Some options I've been looking at include the DPS6505U 60v/5A (I have attempted to attach a screenshot of the PS with this post), the lowest I would like to go as far as power availability is 30V-5 to 6A preferably.. If anyone can help point me in the right direction for a suitable first-time Variable Power Supply even older ones with more recognizable names would be great... Thanks, everyone glad to be a part of this community and look forward to starting my own adventures with tinkering again!!

IMO, you should look more toward digital supplies vs analog (potentiometer) supplies, simply for quality of life. I recently purchased the RD6012PW as it's a digital supply, lowish noise (for a switching supply), high power, PC controlled, among other reasons. Korad supplies (ex. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G0HAY3U/) are also generally well regarded low-cost supplies, but they're of linear design.
