Title: Mackie 1402 VLZ mixer hum on main output
Post by: BluesCam on December 30, 2015, 10:13:20 pm
Hello. My 1402 VLZ Mackie mixer has immediate hum when turned on and with no inputs. I took the back off and it looks
like the power supply caps are on a separate small board that is riveted to the main board. Any idea how to separate it?
Thanks!

Doah! They are tiny Allen screws! These old eyes finally realized that.

Do ALL of the outputs hum?  That would indicate a "systemic" problem, likely failure of a power bulk filter capacitor, etc. What test equipment do you have access to?

Sorry I missed your reply. I think you are right. Since it is a very old mixer now, I don't want to try to repair it. Thanks for your input!

If you want to dump it, I will take it.  What scrap value do you put on it?
