Probe tip for lithium ion battery slits?
« on: January 26, 2014, 09:09:18 pm »
Is there a special narrow tip for probing lithium ion battery slits? I'm trying to check the voltage of a laptop battery.

(On another note, how do you resize images on this forum? The [IMG width={}...] method doesn't seem to work)

Wrap a short piece of copper wire around the tip of the probe you have and leave a short bit straight for a small point to probe with .

This was never the right way to do it. It doesn't affect the original image and its download times in any way. It just makes the browser download the whole large image as usual AND THEN resize it (often crudely) in place. The proper way to do it is to actually shrink the image using one of the myriad free tools available (e.g. there's Paint on every Windows system) before posting it.

Get a reasonable size piece of 0.8mm copper clad fr-4, cut strips of it about 3 cm long, 1 cm wide, on one end, cut the copper on one end of the board on both sides, put the strips in the slots and solder together, then you can just solder probe wires onto the pcb.
