Title: MCT2E optocouopler equivalent
Post by: Griffin on May 14, 2012, 12:58:04 pm
Hi every1

I am building a fan control circuit based on the one form this link: http://extremeelectronics.co.in/avr-projects/avr-project-remote-controlled-fan-regulator/ (http://extremeelectronics.co.in/avr-projects/avr-project-remote-controlled-fan-regulator/) to learn more about optocouplers. My problem is it uses a MCT2E optocoupler that is not available from RS Components or digi-key in our country. Is there a spec similar optocoupler I can use that will do the same job?

Thanks for the help.

From the looks of the schematic none of the parameters for the part are too critical.  You just need to find an optocoupler in the same package (6-pin DIP, 0.300" lead spacing) with the same pinout.  That's a pretty standard pinout.

Any of the following from the "4N" series optocouplers should work:  4N25 thru 2N28 or 4N35 thru 4N37.  These are very common.
