USB to TTL and Microstick for 5V PIC24
« on: September 20, 2016, 01:42:16 pm »
Hi guys!
In my Intelligent Sensors class I am going to use the Microstick for 5V PIC24 (http://www.microchip.com/Developmenttools/ProductDetails.aspx?PartNO=DM240013-2) and I need a USB to TTL adaptor.
The Microstick uses the same pinout as the FTDI.
Do you know of any USB to TTL adaptor that I can use that is relatively cheap?
In my research I found this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PL2303TA-USB-TTL-to-RS232-Converter-Serial-Cable-module-for-win-8-XP-VISTA-7-8-1-/400708482567?hash=item5d4c163607:g:rrkAAOSwhOVXdyDi but I don't know if it works with 5V logic.

Summing up, do you know of any USB to TTL adaptor with the same pinout as the FTDI that works with the Microstick for 5V and that costs not too much money?

Best regards,
Miguel

That seems a good option, but it does not have the same pinout as the FTDI adaptors, the same as the Microstick.

This one seems like a good option, but I can't find it in Europe at decent prices: https://www.pololu.com/product/1308

Thank you again.
But that one has the same problem as the one you posted before. It does not have the FTDI cable pinout, so I can't plug it directly in the Microstick.

I don't know if I am asking to much but what I wanted was an USB to TTL adapter with:
FTDI pinout;
5V tolerant;
Good drivers;
Cheap;

Yes, I know...
But it would be much easier and cleaner if I could plug it directly.
But thank you very much! The CP2104 seems like a very good option!

Ended up buying this one: https://www.pololu.com/product/1308
Found it in a local store at a decent price.
At least I know it is not counterfeit and meets all my criteria.
Thank you for all your help!
Best regards.
