Mechanical Part Supplier
« on: November 16, 2024, 05:28:05 pm »
Need help finding item. I have been trying to locate a supplier that sells micro sliders approximately 2 inches long by 1/4 inch wide but have had no luck finding any. Does anyone know a supplier that would have any close to that size? Low profile would also be a plus, around 1/4 inch height.

These aren't cheap, but if you can't find it at McMaster Carr, you probably don't need it:

They don't export, but you are in US.

Huh? Whatever gave you that idea?? McMaster will ship to foreign countries. I occasionally find hardware from McMaster at work.

If we are shipping your order outside of the U.S. and Canada, we will ship small parcels via DHL and larger shipments through one of our forwarders. See more information about international orders.

I stand corrected.  In the past, others have posted that McMaster would not ship outside US and Canada, but their current website has your statement.
McMaster is my fastest shipping vendor:  typically, if I order before 1 PM to ship to a residential address in Chicago, it arrives by UPS the next day.

I may be wrong, but believe someone told me they have a warehouse in NJ, and, when an item is in stock there, you'll get the order in the time you stated. If it's not in that warehouse, then shipping times may be delayed.

Also, my experience with McMaster-Carr has been outstanding. They ship quickly, and, the few times I've had issues, they not only refund my money without question, but will ship a replacement item if possible (depending on the issue).

I even keep the McMaster-Carr app on my phone. This way if I need to buy a bolt at the local hardware store and not sure if I measured the bolt accurately, I use the app to find whether or not such a bolt with those threads exist before I waste a trip to the store; or use the app while in the store.

They have a headquarters in suburban Chicago, but warehouses all over.  I have dealt with Cleveland and Los Angeles, as well as Chicago.

Ah okay.

I was either told the wrong information, misunderstood, or it was so long ago that they've expanded since.

I don’t think it’s a new thing. Some of the McMaster packages I have found at work look like they’ve been there quite a while. So I suspect that either someone misunderstood, or wanted to order to a country that is under some kind of embargo, or meant that McMaster won’t ship with customs pre-cleared (like Digikey and Mouser do, and which is a HUGE help).
