Hi Dave, do you have a video on your youtube channel or could you possibly make one where you show us a day in the life of what you do at work, on an average day when you get to the office and when you exit I am very interested

I'd be interested in this as well, but I fear that Dave might be subject to rules set by his employer designed to protect their intellectual property.
It may be more trouble than it's worth attempting such a thing, it could result in a legal mess. A quick google search on 'blogging policy' will help reveal the depth of legal paranoia, real and imagined, that surrounds blogging.
Perhaps there's something that can be worked out with Dave's employer that can be released by one or both parties? I know they have their own venue on youtube, and perhaps they would see it as beneficial to high-five the hobbyist community.
I love the idea, but I don't want to see the great thing Dave has going on here get hurt in the long run.

David replied to a similar question I had in another thread and said that he deliberately keeps his work separate from the blog.

Thanks yes that makes sense 8)

My work does encourage blogging, and they'd actually encourage me to do one on the company and their products, but it has to be 100% positive, i.e. I can't a say single negative thing. And everyone knows that's just not in my nature!
So it's now a blanket rule, I don't mention work at all unless there is some interesting electronics design tidbit I can share without mentioning the products.
Dave.

I'm waiting for the day when they realise I and my video style is getting quite popular, and with my crude minimal effort style and almost no money and equipment I can generate 10 times the hits they get with all their slick marketing and creative might! ;D
Perhaps one day you'll see me on their channel, but that would require a mind-shift from slick and professional to no marketing BS rude-n-crude!

Hi Dave, thanks for commenting on my thread, can I ask you can someone who knows a lot about EE and is self studied but has no college/university degree be able to get employed by the company that you work for? And is they anyone who is in respectable positions that has no degree or University background but are self master/taught from experience and learnt first hand.
Thanks

Well, that's not just your nature, that's wholly not how Engineers work!

Jeri Ellsworth is one instance I know of as a person without an engineering degree that has designed professionally.

p.s. - Just happened to have watched a video she had recently posted when the question was asked, I know of more and a fair share of them did start by owning their businesses. I'm not interested in going that route myself, I'd rather go back to the University of Oklahoma and finish my degree.

So far as that goes, I have about a half-dozen personal friends who have designed professionally without degrees. They maintain that if you can prove you have the skills, you don't need to worry about finding a job, but I beg to differ. The paperwork gets you the job without proving anything, most of the time. I think it's probably considerably harder (unless you have years of experience) to find a job without a degree.
I hope that's not too discouraging, I think mostly you'll have to look for a job with small companies and present a portfolio of work that you've done. It would be very helpful to design a website that talks about theory that you understand and such also.

So did Steve Wozniak but, both Woz and Jeri Ellsworth owned the business' they worked for. So unless your planning on starting your own company, you need a proper education.
