Hi guys
So right now, when in the lab I'm a bit naughty and I don't use proper protection (for esd that is... ). However, as I'm slowly going up in terms of complexity of projects and gear I want to repair, I want to change that. I am hoping to work on some RF repairs in the not-too-distant future, and while my TO-220 transistors and basic jellybean opamps I mainly work with now might be able to take a bit of a beating ESD wise, those RF components can't.
I was looking to at least start out with a good wriststrap and 1 \$M \Omega \$ to ground point. Since I will be using this quite a bit and prefer being comfortable, I would like to get something decent that doesn't chafe or itch after wearing it for extended periods of time.
Any suggestions as to what wristbands to get? Is there a significant quality/reliability difference? I don't want to blow up the front-end mixer of a spectrum analyzer because I saved a few tens of euros on a cheap ebay wristband and such...
