Hey guys, someone with very basic electronics knowledge here, but interested in a project to do either by myself for fun or find someone to do it for me, for $. But I would like to know what's going on first. So here's what's up.

My motorcycle has a pair of old school LCD displays, you can see it here -
- and they have quite some years on them, the numbers/contrast on them is OK but the background/faceplate of the screen is looking sort of faded. Also, at night, they have the classic orange light which needs to be changed. There are 8 PLCC2 LEDs on those 2 displays, but the faceplate is still orange so not sure if the white PLCC2 will be enough?

My questions is - is it possible to change the color of the faceplate, how complicated of a process would it be to do such thing? Please note that I'm very ignorant on this subject and my question might sound lewd to someone knowledgeable, I just want to make my gauges nicer :D
