Another component identification
« on: May 02, 2015, 11:40:56 am »
Hello All,
Could anybody tell me what this component is?
it has a black oval on one side and a large gold dot on the other besides the  colored dots seen here.

Thanks

Perhaps it's a dipped tantalum... Googling capacitor dipped dot code helped.

Nope, that's an inductor. I reached into similar ones I have and tested 0.10 mH (2.4 ohms) on a component tester.
Mine have brown (gold?) on the side and black brown on top.
The image below may help (from http://www.sentex.ca/~mec1995/gadgets/coils/coils.html )
