Ta on the model number, the diagram I posted should be OK as a reference

Regarding the noise you hear on your PC when the compressor is running, is it a steady frequency noise or does it change as the compressor ramps up and down?

it is steady

denelec:
Maybe the problem is not EMI but harmonics.
If the compressor of the heat pump is driven by a Variable Frequency Drive (inverter), it may emits a lot of harmonic current.
These currents may distort the mains voltage.  Some electronic devices are very susceptible to harmonic distorsion.
A simple check with an oscilloscope may confirm if the voltage sinewave is distorted.
A THD of more than 8% is problematic.

damn, shouldn't have sold my old scope then (dumpster find), worked great. but i didnt have much use of it :) until now

the manufacturer wants to replace the filtering board. but by the sounds of it. that won't help?

i do have a report that the electrical company made about a year ago. a lot of info in that report that i don't know too much about (i'm a Telecom techichian. i do CATV and Fiber) :)

Berni:
Yeah i have pretty low hopes that replacing the filter board would help.

Tho if it is a conducted noise problem perhaps putting a huge ferite on the mains cable could help. Not sure how hard they are to find in those sizes. I saw some large ones made by Wurth Electonics, for small quantities Farnell.com sells there stuff.

inductive:
would be fun to know exactly what is happening.

might have to borrow a scope from work (if we still have scopes)
