My first bench oscilloscope on its way!!
« on: March 22, 2024, 12:14:04 am »
Hey guys and gals! I hope everyone is doing well. So since I’ve been using the pico 2204 at work, I’ve decided I wanted something better and more user friendly for home. I went ahead and ordered a
Siglent 1202X-E from Saelig. Ive watched a lot of videos and have read a lot of reviews on it as well. I’ve watched videos and read reviews on other scopes as well and like this one the most. It’s going to be here tomorrow and I’m super excited!

O dear,be warned your on a slippery slope, once the excitements worn off youll be looking for your next hit,the excitement from your second bit of test gear  wont last as long as the first and  before you know it your searching for the third, and so it continues .

I think you made a good choice.

I know many hams that bought the Siglent SDS1202X-E 200 MHz 2-channel digital oscilloscope, and they are happy with it.  I do not have that model, but I do have a Siglent scope and I am happy with it.

And I got my scope from Saelig too.  I got my discount via the EEVBlog discount code.  And I got my scope quickly.

There is a ton of videos of people using SDS1202X-E and other scopes in the SDS1000X-E series.  So, you should be able to see what features are in the scope and how to use them.  Or even the limitations of the scope.

Well, same as mine. I hope you have better luck than me, I'm having some problems with the USB stick; I had to throw away the last FW due to this problem. However, I use it anyway  ;)

Hi,

a new SIGler  ;)
Few if any may have recognized it, but 70´-80´s pop-soul and disco-funk icon HotChocalate, resp. Errol Brown was also a veritable TEA!
He wrote many songs around the T&M theme, of which only a few came to a rather doubtful fame, due to some major text changes the label-bosses pushed through.
I´d now like to use the opportunity and paste the original texts by Errol Brown himself.

His TEAddiction was on its height already when his first songs were published ....
You Sexy Thing (1975)
I believe in miracles
Where′re you from?
You sexy thing, sexy thing you
I believe in miracles
Since you came along
You sexy thing

Where did you come from, SIGY?
How did you know I needed you?
How did you know I needed you so badly?
How did you know I'd give my heart gladly?
Yesterday I was one of the lonely people
Now you′re standing front of me, displaying squares to me

I believe in miracles
Where're you from?
You sexy thing, sexy thing you
I believe in miracles
Since you came along
You sexy thing

Where was Your Your Trigger, angel??
How did you know the Mean of all?
Did you know you′re everything I prayed for?
Did you know every night and day for?
Everyday, you′d show peaks and averageing
Now you're standing front of me, showing it to me

I believe in miracles
Where′re you from?
You sexy thing, sexy thing you
I believe in miracles
Since you came along
You sexy thing, aaah
...and so on

With professional help Mr. Brown managed to control his TEA better .... but not much, as the 1978 released
Every 1´s a Winner proved (obviously Errol already had Sig´s 1k-series in mind)

Never could believe the things you show to me
Never doubt results displayed so far
Every day I bless the sines that you get through to me
′Cause SIGY, I believe that you're a star

Everyone′s a winner, SIG, that's the truth (yes, the truth)
Running tests with you is such a thrill
Everyone's a winner, SIGy, that′s no lie (yes, no lie)
You never fail to display (satisfy)

Never could explain just what was happening to me
Just one glance on you and I′m aflame
SIGY, it's amazing just how wonderful it is
That the things we like to do are just the same

Everyone′s a winner, SIGY, that's the truth (yes, the truth)
Running test with you is such a thrill
Everyone′s a winner, SIG, that's no lie (yes, no lie)
You never fail to display (satisfy)
Let′s measure again
......and so on

This was just a short excerpt from his numerous ´songs of an addicted´as I may call it.
Probabely other artist´s texts are also worth to been looked at  closer again  ;D

..... it builds character!

Definitely want to get a waveform generator, but I really doubt a distortion meter. I think I’ll be good with the scope and generator for a while…

I obviously have received the scope and have been messing around with it. I have to say I like it soooo much Better than my pico 2204. It’s obviously way faster and I find it much more intuitive.

No disrespect to you...

So you say this is good enough for now..  But just wait...

LCR meter, frequency counter, Tiny SA spectrum analyzer, NanoVNA, another multimeter, another oscilloscope, another frequency counter but this one is better because it includes BNC and blah, blah...  LOL

Just wait....  5... 4... 3... 2... 1...

Only kidding.  I think I was talking about myself there... LOL

Sometimes you find a good deal on an old piece of equipment like an oscilloscope for $55 off ebay and surprised when you get it - it works.  Or an old HP frequency counter... get it... and surprised it works... may need to be calibrated but hey - it works!

I should be seeking therapy in the TEA topic.
