I see at least two, possibly three Variacs in there, along with some other power supplies. If you can get that pallet for 50 bucks the Variacs alone are worth much more than that. Plus they are unlikely to be faulty, being so very simple.
eta: Maybe 4 Variacs!
Not only at least four, but that teal is kind of telling yeah? This is a semi vintage lot so I assume those are good ol' made in the USA Staco variacs, and built very well, and worth quite a bit.
B&K 530 Transistor FET Tester
2 Variacs
Isolation transformer with multiple taps? (large but could be any voltage or condition)
Decade resistance or capacitance box?
Audio gen
Counter
Scope
Few power supplies
Voltmeter or Ammeter
Got to assume nothing works. In general avoid collecting clunky low end gear, your first instinct should be to get rid of most of that pile. If you can keep a few things and make your money back that is the best option
My addiction is fairly new, and that pallet is already mine in my mind, lol. I am hoping for the best, and if everything is broken, I'll pick the best few things and try to fix them....if I screw everything up, I will tear down and scavenge parts for days and put the rest in my scrap metal pile, and hopefully have learned a few things along the way. Getting it for a decent price will be the key.
Yeah, if that's one lot then I'd grab it just for the sheer joy of tearing down the unknown stuff, the boxes with the blue stripe to the left of the counter, the 'upright' box to the right of the scope look fascinating
Was wondering about those, and yeah...total tear down city, very exciting for a "new player" like me as Dave would say. Even though I am older, I still feel like a kid with wonder when I open things, and contemporary mass consumer smd stuff is quite underwhelming. I love to open older things, check data sheets on components and such. When I find a popular IC or something, I like to learn about it, find a fun schematic, and do a project with it. I'm sure that might eventually get boring but it's fun and interesting now.
