Thanks, interestingly, 17:01 of the above video shows the MOV being placed downstream of the LC input filter. The MOV has a approx 100n film capacitor across it...thus the MOV will quench the LC ring at power up and this will dramatically reduce its life...(theres no big 'lytic to quench it as its PFC'd) .....the conveniently low 160mA input fuse will blow.
This seems like a way of getting the tube to fail early in its life wouldnt you say?.....so customers then just go and buy another...more profit.
That MOV should be a TVS...the MOV should actually be right at the front end.
