Node analysis /Mesh analysis questions ?
(1/1)
lordvader88:
What's the next level up from NA/MA for DC analysis where you could say, if you have so many nodes, loops, resistors, diodes and BJTs...you could fill in all the values and get currents/voltages ?

If you have a big 10 or 20 BJT circuit, does anyone sit down any write out however many N/M equations there would be? I have a 8 BJT PSU, and I don't know where to start, it's a tangle just to unravel the paths.

Or is there a much quicker way you learn later, and in an exam you can quickly solve 10 or 20 BJT circuits ?

Ya, it's called simulations  :-DD

As far as "what's the next level up...". There isn't really anything in terms of manual analysis. This is why we turn to EDA software where quickly slapping together the circuit and running some simulations is far superior than anything pen and paper can return.

The PSU problem you speak of, is this a hobby project or do you have a teacher who is a sadist and is making you run through hoops just to ensure that you understand the theory?

No I just gave it a try on a PSU I made. I bet whoever designed it never had an electronic calculator either, let alone a matrix solver.

Ok, as builders, there's nothing wrong with cheating and measuring a few voltages and currents to cut down on the number of eqn's.
