Noobie oscilloscope question
« on: October 10, 2015, 03:47:39 pm »
Hi everyone!
I'm a new member of evvblog forum. My name is Luis and I'm from Portugal. Sorry for my english.

Today I has probing a tyhristor bridge rectifier at my college. When I probe the voltage of the tyhristor with my Uni-t UTD2052CEX the recovery peak voltage doesnt fit the screen with x1 probe. When I put the x10 the screen freezes and with the x1 the oscilloscope cant take any measure like averange or rms voltage. Is there any method to probe the tyhristor without seeing the recovery peak voltage?

The Uni-t UTD2052CEX not worth the money.

Once again sorry for my english. Please correct me

Luis, your English is fine. You've made a couple of spelling errors but your grammar is good and your meaning is clear.

Now... you would normally use 10x probe setting, on both the probe and in the scope's Channel menu, for your measurement. When you say "the screen freezes" when you use the 10x setting.... could this be because the Trigger voltage setting is now out of range of the signal you are measuring?

If you can post a schematic of the circuit you are probing, and a screenshot of the scope, including the scope's settings, it may help us diagnose your problem.

Like alsetalokin4017 mentioned, your English is fine. In fact, your English is a lot better than many native English speakers.

As mentioned, taking a screen shot or making a quick video could be helpful.
