RIGOL MSO5000 series EOL timeline and 12-bit MSO replacement ?
« on: September 22, 2023, 05:03:16 am »
Is there any estimate on the RIGOL MSO5000 series EOL (End of Life) and if there will be a 12-bit MSO replacement ?

The Linux 2.6 kernel is getting rather long in the tooth.

Thanks much.

According to page 2-1 of The MSO5000's MSO5000 series Open Source Acknowledgment document, the MSO5000 is running kernel 3.12.  And that is according to a document that was written in 2018.  For all we know it is running something newer these days.

According to the terms of the agreement, Rigol is obligated to give us a copy of the source code of the kernel used in the MSO5000.  I'd like to see if I could recompile the kernel and add a USB WiFi adapter to it.
