old oscilloscope trouble shooting
« on: October 24, 2013, 11:44:57 pm »
I have a telequipment S54A oscilloscope pretty old. ( it was sitting around from long ago) I remember it was put away cause it tryed to test Mains frequency (*cough) unisolated. The unit still turns on but no trace on the screen  If you turn it off the trace dot will scan from its left to the center of the screen as it fades away. Even the poor old Prob base has been broken (ill worry about that when i can get a possable useful display trace). So i was wondering what would be the best place to start checking circuits. i havent done anything but to take off the cover and look for burnt traces and scored components.I did find a Basic schematic for it. Its vague at best. Anyway any thoughts :) maybe the timebase circuits...  thoughts , suggestions or direction of travel would be greatly appreciated. :)
