Good afternoon everyone and thank you for taking time to look at my post.

A while back I rescued from the dumpster a Techtronix 2213 and a 434 scopes; the 2213 powers on just fine but since I don't have any probes as of yet, I am not able to further troubleshoot what is wrong with it.

I've looked at eBay for a manual and found a CD that contains both operator and service for a reasonable price.

My question is thus:  Should I buy the combo manual CD or get a printed manual?

Again, thanks for your time.

Is the CD from a company called "Artek" ?   -  if so, it is likely a top quality scan,  in the form of a PDF file on the disc.   I have bought many CDs from Artek and been happy with all of them.

The only complaint I have about Artek's manuals is that the PDFs are protected, so you can't add your own annotations to them...  there are workarounds for this that I use, but I'd prefer a "clean" unprotected PDF in the first place...  but those days are gone,  I guess I should be happy I'm not forced to subscribe to the manuals...   :-DD

Printed manuals....   well, printed material just clutters too much for my liking...  not that I don't understand the benefit of a beautifully printed manual, I just don't have room for them - and if I ever want to print a manual page, you can easily print a page from a PDF file, right?

A 3.5 digit 4.5 digit 5 digit 5.5 digit 6.5 digit 7.5 digit DMM is good enough for most people.

Note that the 2213 and the 2213a are somewhat different beasts. If your scope is a 2213a, you might also benefit from getting the 2215 service manual.

The 2213 and 2213A are very different so make sure to get the correct manual.  The 2213/2215 might be considered prototypes of the 100 MHz 2235 series which includes the 60 MHz 2213A/2215A which replaced the older 60 MHz 2213/2215.  The chief difference between the 100 MHz and 60 MHz models is that the lack temperature compensated equalization networks in the 60 MHz models.

A 2215 manual will mostly work for the 2213 and a 2215A manual will mostly work for the 2213A; the 2215 and 2215A are dual timebase versions of the 2213 and 2213A.  The 2215A is a 60 MHz version of the 100 MHz 2235.
