Title: Original PS1 Screen Issue and Modchip?
Post by: k2Rob on July 08, 2023, 11:38:22 pm
Howdy,

I recently got hold of a Playstation 1 model SCPH-9002 which has display issues

When it's turned it does play the startup sound however all you get of a image is what I've shown in the picture.

I've removed the caps on the AV side and they had leaked so I've ordered replacements.

Didn't these things have 2mb of memory? This thing has an 8mb chip that sadly has one of the legs broken off. (Model of the chip is km4132g271bq-10)

Also there's this crazy wiring going on, is this a modchip of some kind?

Yes that will be a modchip. Possibly a PIC 12C508 or similar.
