| Oscilloscope Bandwidth Question |
| << < (6/6) |
| David Hess:
Small signal emitter follower oscillations in audio circuits can be above 100 MHz but will usually but not always be visible with a 100 MHz oscilloscope so there is some value in a higher bandwidth instrument. Output stage and operational amplifier oscillations are usually at a lower frequency so not a problem. However an analog oscilloscope will display these oscillations better than a DSO (unless 12 bits) if they are at a low level and you know to look for them. Analog oscilloscopes work fine for transient response testing unless you are testing something like an oven controller. I would look more for instruments which are easy to use or at least not annoying. Two channels plus an external trigger input will be fine. |
