I was wondering what everyones opinion is on having an oscilloscope for doing tv repairs and troubleshooting. A good investment or unnecessary? |

In most cases ,it will be useless . 50% will be the leds 10% will be the diodes or feds of the power supply 15% will be capacitors ( it was much higher a few years back) 5% will be software problems and firmware corruption 5% will be connectors and ports damage And the rest 15% will be problems in the digital boards (the only place you will need an oscilloscope ) but most of the time will be to difficult or no cost effective to bother. a multimeter and a soldering iron is all you need. tools that will make your life easer is a led tester or a lab power supply to test the led streps individually . i use a variac with a full bridge rectifier and a 1kohm in series to test all the leds before i start the disassembly of the panel |
