OTP Programming the AEAT-6600-T16
« on: March 25, 2018, 05:48:08 am »
I know OTP mode stands for One Time Programming, and the application note I'm reading reading says the AEAT-6600-T16 is a "One Time Programmable ASIC". My question is: does the "One Time" mean once only period, or can you once again connect the higher OTP voltage (it takes 6.5V) and reprogram the chip, just not during normal operation? I'd like to experiment with several different encoder resolutions and modes, and would like to know whether I'll need a bunch of chips for that. Thank you.

For example, because AMS is out of stock most places I ckecked...  :-// My AS5048 from Digi-Key is set to ship sometime in July I think. Another reason is the 16-bit resolution on the AEAT, although that comes with what could be prohibitively slow response time.
Thanks for the clarification, I thought that's what it probably means but wanted to know for certain.
