Title: Panel mount gauge enclosure
Post by: matkar on September 12, 2014, 02:30:36 pm
I'd like to make my own panel indicator - gauge.
I'm trying to find  a source for the enclosure only (glass, front bezel, shell). Something like

without the scale and needle.
Standard electronic enclosure producers don't offer anything similar. Does anybody know a source?

when you say without the needle what do you mean? do you wish to fit your own movement, or just your own scale and pointer?

In reality i would think you would pick generic resistance gauges and drive them by varying the voltage into them, at least for the VDO gauges it is easy to open the bezel, twist off the pointer and place a sticker over the dial, and boom custom dial,

At my work we have the parts to make up maybe 2, as just the shell lens and bezel floating as spare parts, for any more than that we would need to cannibalize a working gauge,

Probably the only thing you'll find are panel mount DIN enclosures like this

I mean without the internals as well. My intention is to mount a 7 segment display or LCD inside.
I'm searching for a supplier where I can get multiple pieces, maybe even different models and sizes. Tearing apart some finished product is not an option.
I prefer round shape.

Tearing apart some finished product is not an option.
That, or making something custom, or maybe finding an existing plumbing/mechanical fitting are probably your only options.
