PCB Front Panel Design Software
« on: December 01, 2019, 12:44:11 pm »
I would like to design a series of front panels using PCB's. I was going to use ALLPCB.COM as they seem to offer aluminium PCB's
My question is what software would be easiest to use when the design is only for a front panel?
I can use Windows or Linux.

Even if it is only a front panel, you'll need a pcb design tool so that you can export gerbers in order to have your boards manufactured.
The free version of Eagle or KiCad would do, so would many others. Figuring out how to put text/lines on the silkscreen shouldn't be too difficult and there are tutorials online. Remember to print it out on paper before sending it out!

I've not tried it, but if you draw in Inkscape, there's an extension, svg2shenzhen, which exports Inkscape layers to KiCAD pcb files, which you can load, optionally modify, and plot in pcbnew in the usual fashion.
