PCB Layout for Shunt Resistor
(1/1)
john21443:
Hello,
I am layout out PCB for device that includes power sensing. I am using this resistor for R1: https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/418/NG_DS_1773449-3_F-1140363.pdf. Specifically, the one in the 2512 package.
This is not a 4 wire package. Please take a look at the attached pcb screen shot and provide any feedback you have on how I laid out the traces. Sizing of the main feeds were from kicad pcb calculator with expected max 6A current.
Thanks,
John

Looks fine to me. But the traces are very close to the other terminal of the resistor R2 and R3 for my commodity. Turning them 90° should leave better clearance for the traces

Thanks for the feedback.

There you go, an appnote on it.
It all depends on how much accuracy you need.

Thanks! I think I ran across that a while ago and completely forgot about it.
