so I am faily new to electronics and I find it very annoying to use perfboard I layout the commponents then solder but when I try to figure out what component leads need to be connected it is annoyingly difficult I have tried using sharpie to mark the leads but it didn't work well :-//

If you have a printer, you can draw the layout of the pins in Paint or some software (Fritzing for example) and then flip the picture horizontally and print it (or just leave it displayed on the screen) and you then basically have the pins as they show up on the other side of the pcb. Now you have a quick guide to tell you what pins gets wires to what pin.
