Pinecil vs TS100.
« on: September 20, 2021, 07:34:47 pm »
I purchased a KSGER T12 with an internal power supply yesterday...

I want to buy a second soldering iron, I am looking at Pinecil and TS100.

Which one of these should I get ? and why ?

Also, Pinecil needs a 20V/3A=60W adapter, does this one work well with it ?:

Or is it recommended to get another type of power supply ? links please.

Get this one instead:

It's my favorite iron for electronics (and other tasks) when it needs to be portable.
Is also sold under the Weller brand.

With lighter gas (butane), you're completely autonomous.

And BTW, the Pinecil is absolutely ridiculous (I hope I found the right link on Google).
Why on earth would a soldering iron need a 32-bit ARM processor?
Not to mention that wattage lacks completely in the specifications. I though it was a hoax.

The wattage is 60W through USB type C connector and 63W through the barrel jack connector...

There are portable irons with temperature control that use T12 bit.  Though they are not what you are asking.  I haven't used for long so cannot comment further.

You don't have to use the USB-C port for power. It also has a DC barrel jack so you could use any 19V laptop power adapter -- although you might have to fit a compatible DC plug. For instance, I use an old Dell laptop power brick with my TS-100.
