pinout of SOIC14 part

I've got some SOIC14 LM339 parts but there is nothing on the part to indicate pin1, so I use the parts text to determine the orientation ?

While I was finding this illustration, Freethinker made his reply.  Hope it helps clarify.

ok I'll take a look (for some reason notification of replies never came) thanks for the suggestion

well I can sort of see the chamfer, although one of the other IC's is very hard to which side is which, I wish they'd just put a circle next to pin 1
