Please help identifying the round connector
« on: April 01, 2023, 08:12:17 am »
Could anyone let me know what connector is the round one? I need to connect my device directly to a scale without the need for a pair of standard 9 pin serial connector. Many thanks!

Please list the scale’s manufacturer and model number, and measure the connector as accurately as possible.

Thank you @tooki, @jonpaul!
The serial cable connects using the round connector to a serial port on the Adam AE 403 indicator: https://www.adamequipment.co.uk/ae-403
The serial port is on the bottom (from page 7 in the user manual: https://www.adamequipment.co.uk/media/docs/Print%20Publications/Manuals/AE403_UM_EN.pdf:

Seeing the metal shield around the female connector I am thinking that it is a "very special" connector  |O

Will not have access to the scale/indicator for about 2 week so unfortunately I cannot provide dimension. I am sorry for this; I learned this lesson and will know next time.

Not sure if it helps, on the indicator details page above there is also a service manual: https://www.adamequipment.co.uk/media/docs/Print%20Publications/Manuals/AE403_SM_EN.pdf
I read both manuals but the connector codes are internally assigned, could not find anything based on those.

I am not 100% sure but  I think it's the 4 pin Eurofast M12 femaie connector.

Nah, its not M12.

Note the metal surround with the alignment notch and female sockets. Also, the straight knurling on the lock nut.
I think the same connector type is used for the 7-pin strain gauge connection, seen here.

Couldn't see a matching Amphenol or Hirose, which were my first guess.

@voltsandjolts  you are perfectly right, it is the same connector: load cell connector has 7 contacts, serial port connector has 4 contacts.

You sure they're not GX Aviation connectors ? DIN connectors are not quite the same.

@Jwillis, I am not sure. I looked for GX Aviation connectors on Google Images Search and could not find yet such a connector that has a metallic shield.

Other question is size . GX12, GX16 or GX20

Oh wait I see what you mean about shielding . But I wonder if that is necessary .

Thank you @Jwillis! I noticed that the connectors on Amazon do not have this metallic shield (please see the attachment to this post).

Edit: I am not sure if the shield is necessary. Regarding the size, I will get a caliper with me next time will be on the site.

What about these. They,re not a GX aviation but a XS aviation. https://www.amazon.ca/Aviation-Push-Pull-Circular-Socket-Connector/dp/B07QF3MSWW

Maybe that will narrow things down a bit more.

@Jwillis, these XS connectors look very similar, have to find one with thread instead or screw / thread. Thank you
