Polarity on this laptop DC jack

(1/1)

SolderOcelot:
I want to measure if there is voltage between the DC jack and motherboard. This DC jack has 5 legs. Which is +? Which is -? What are the other ones, just support?

Looks rather obvious. For pins are connected, and one isolated.
So I'd guess the connected ones are "-" and the left over "+" as this is most common. Might be reversed, that's what you use your DMM for to determine this.

wraper:
4 legs are connected to ground (-), it's quite obvious because they consist of single piece of metal. One leg separated with a piece of black plastic on the bottom right corner is +.

SolderOcelot:
Honestly it did look obvious to me too but I just wanted to make sure  ;D
