Power electronics job title?
(1/1)
jackbob:
I'm a 15 year old (almost 16) high school student who has a lot of interest in electronics design. I have most experience and the desire to work in power type of electronics such as power supplies, variable frequency drives, inverters, converters, and things of that nature. These also have a very good future because of motor control for electric cars and chargers for the cars. New solar technology will also hold a good future for inverters. I would think there are different categories of electronics but can't find a job title for power electronics. Would it just be an electronics engineer? I found power electrical engineer but that's transmission and such, I'm looking for electronics. Are there electronic engineers that specialize in power? Thanks for the input,
Jacob

There are indeed.
Usually you'd have a strong analog electronics design background.
Jobs would usually be advertised under the generic "electronics design engineer" title. But I've seen "power supply design engineer" etc.
Dave.
