This https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/374-SW3477D made by Stadium Group is less expensive than Mean Well which cost more and outputs out less power. Is anybody here familiar with Stadium Groups' choice of components particularly capacitors? |

I had work dump Stontronics supplies in favour of Meanwell because we were seeing way too many in field failures. Now our use case was high load 24/7 in sometimes high ambient temperatures, but the GST series stuff just seems to keep on going where we had no end of pain with the Stontronics product. IIRC ours were the 60W variant. I would take the Meanwell myself. Incidentally, Mouser/Digikey are no sort of indicator for pricing on this stuff, it gets MUCH cheaper in quantity from a specialist supplier. Regards, Dan. |

It is a Stontronics, Stadium Group brought Stontronics and if you look at the datasheet it is one of the old Stontronics supplies. You can do whatever of course, but IMHO Life is too short to be dealing with poor power supply reliability. Now it is a different Stontronics to the one that caused me all the pain, but short of pulling one apart I can only advise based on what I saw when I had my 60W sample apart and on the reliability record we had with that manufacturer (Which IMO spoke for itself). Incidentally, adding an LED is a way to get around the standby power limit for consumer goods in the EU! Standard trick. Regards, Dan. |
